TOURISM & ECONOMY
SUMMIT BARCELONA
2025

A new resilient and sustainable tourism: Large cities and the Barcelona proposal.

Tourism, which emerged as Spain’s economic engine in the 1960s, quickly became an industry that fostered the quantitative growth of this important economic segment.

Since the 1992 Olympic Games, Barcelona has become an urban destination of maximum relevance worldwide and, in recent years, the model has exploded after an exponential increase.

Faced with this situation, Barcelona is developing initiatives aimed at reconciling tourism and the city, as well as promoting a new model of tourism activity. Aligned with these same objectives, the Summit Tourism & Economy Barcelona 2025, stands as a benchmark for debate, with analysis and proposals for a new stage.
